Doki Doki 5th Cure Discussion

sirvalkyrieThis includes discussion on Cure Ace, the fith precure from Doki Doki Pretty Cure. This may be spoilery to some of you. It also contains discussion on previous late additions to teams. I have also not see Max Heart, Splash Star or either season of Yes Pretty Cure 5, so this will be using precedent from Fresh on.
The two major candidates to become Cure Ace are Regina or Marie Ange, barring Cure Ace being a totally new character.
Cure Passion, Sunshine, Moonlight, Beat and Muse all had some level of build up to their joining the team. Passion, Moonlight, Beat and Muse had a fairly extensive amount. While Sunshine had considerably less, she was off and on developed even before the new Cure Sunshine arc.
With Cure Passion they had the first extreme hair color change, going from dark purple to pink. As Eas she still had red as her theme color, which she shares with Cure Passion.
For Sunshine they did extreme hair length change, going from boyishly short to very long twintails.
In Muse's intro they threw people off by having the real height of the character obscured and changing eye color radically after transformation.
While not a late addition cure, it should be noted that Cure Peace broke the seasons long trend of having bangs the same between normal and cure forms.
Now, in terms of Cure Ace, she resembles Marie Ange a bit more physically, but in terms of character development it is Regina that is being developed. The color scheme for Cure Ace fits Regina a bit more. There is also the case of Ai. Some theories are that Ai is Marie Ange. If Marie Ange is Cure Ace then who is Ai?
One of the theories I've seen thrown about is that Regina and Ai are both two halves of Marie Ange.
With all of this I think that while having theories isn't bad, it should be noted that almost ever midseason Cure has done something different to lead us off the scent. Personally, I am hoping that Regina is Cure Ace in some way, shape or form as she is the one receiving character development.
